Hard to believe Durango Big Picture is starting its fifth year already!
Because we have shifted to grade level advisories, this year I have acquired five students from Dreher’s advisory, two from Manny’s, four new students, and kept my seven sophomores; a really fun mix of individuals! Students have started on interest based independent projects, some jumping in where they left off last year. As an advisor, it is always inspiring to see students find what interests them and dive into their learning. On the internship front, we have three students that have already started attending their internships; Joshua Sorensen at Pedal the Peaks, Zach Krueger at Axxis Audio, and Chase Kassel at Children’s World. This year we will be focusing on the eleven gateway keys; the personal, academic, and social qualities needed to be a successful student in Big Picture’s Senior Institute. I am looking forward to another wonderful year; a fresh start, a chance to learn new things, and to share in the academic, personal, and social growth that comes with students taking control of their education.
