I was born and raised in Bayfield and after moving away for my first two years of college, I returned home to graduate from Fort Lewis College with my Bachelor’s Degree in General Biology. After working as a Pharmacy Technician and teaching ballet for several years, I decided I wanted to pursue a career in education and teach science. I continued teaching dance while attending the University of Phoenix to earn my Master’s Degree in Secondary Education. I did my student teaching at Big Picture and was hired later that same school year as an advisor and Chemistry teacher. This is my fifth year with Big Picture and I look forward to continuing to empower our students to reach their personal, social, and academic goals.
My husband, Jordan, and I welcomed our daughter, Sophia, in November and have been enjoying parenthood and all of the excitement and love our little girl has brought to our lives. We love to be outdoors!! Camping, hiking, backpacking, skiing, going to music festivals, traveling, and spending time with friends and family are among our favorite pastimes. I feel fortunate to be a part of this community and to be able to help shape the future members of society in such a meaningful way at Durango Big Picture High School.
