New alumni series + an interview with DHS alumna Maya Reherman

This week, we're introducing a new occasional series highlighting Durango High School and Big Picture High School graduates who are thriving in their careers and giving back to our community. These stories show how DSD students go on to succeed — finding their passions, building skills, and contributing to Durango’s future.

Meet Maya Reherman, a Durango native who returned home after building her nursing career. Maya earned her associate degree in nursing from San Juan College in 2023, then became a Registered Nurse and completed a residency at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, NC, specializing in oncology. During that time, she discovered her passion for guiding patients toward health and personal goals.

Today, Maya brings that passion and expertise to Durango Dermatology and Animas Surgical Hospital. She’s an inspiring example of how Durango graduates use their skills to make a difference right here at home.

Whom should we interview next?
