Looking forward: What to expect this summer

District Administration Office summer hours

Over the summer, schools will not be staffed. From June 1 through July 24, the Durango School District (DSD) Administration Office will be open Mondays through Thursdays, 8 a.m.-4 p.m., and will be closed to the public on Fridays. While staff are still working, we implement an alternative schedule during the summertime that reduces staff presence in the office on Fridays.

Community Update will return in June

After a brief hiatus, the Community Update newsletter will resume in mid-June and will be sent regularly throughout the remainder of the summer. Keep an eye out for back-to-school information, which we'll be publishing on our website and in the newsletter over the summer.

Summer Bridge Program

This year's revised Summer Bridge Program workbooks have been sent home with all current kindergarten through 5th-grade students. Students received two specialized books — one for Literacy Foundations and one for Enigmath problem-solving — to help keep their skills sharp over the break. Bring your student's completed literacy sections to our first summer checkpoint during the week of June 15 to earn free passes to exciting local adventures!

Free summer meals return — this year at Park

DSD is once again offering free summer meals to all children through the federally funded 2026 Summer Food Service Program. This year, free sack lunches will be offered at Park Elementary/Fanto Park from June 1 through July 31 — Monday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The service will be closed on Friday, July 3, for Independence Day.
