Safety tips for families: Keep replica weapons at home

  • Keep weapons and look-alikes at home. Airsoft guns, toy guns, and replica firearms are prohibited at school. Some look very much like real firearms, and airsoft pellets can cause injuries. Bringing these items to school is taken seriously and can result in disciplinary action, up to and including expulsion.
  • Tell an adult right away. If your child sees a weapon or something that looks like one at school, they should tell a teacher, principal, or another staff member immediately. They do not need to determine whether it is real.
  • Reassure your child that speaking up helps. Reporting a safety concern is a way to protect themselves and others. They can ask a trusted adult for help even when they are unsure.
  • Save Safe2Tell’s contact information. Students and families can anonymously report safety concerns 24/7 by calling 1-877-542-7233, visiting Safe2Tell.org, or using the Safe2Tell app. Use it to share genuine concerns and help someone who may be at risk. In an emergency, call 911.

Thank you for helping your child understand these expectations and supporting safe, welcoming schools.
